This month, CNBC did a piece on a Redesign of the Traditional Classroom and it piqued our interest. The video explains the “flipped” classroom model and predicts that individualized learning will be the standard in 25 years.
Does it look familiar? Luckily, our students don’t have to wait that long to take advantage of the benefits of this model. In fact, Montessori children, from infants to elementary, have been learning this way for over a century. Some characteristics of this model include:
- school days filled with student discussion and interaction.
- teacher observations & working one-on-one with a child on the floor
- small group lessons
- personalized education
- allowing children to work at their own pace
